Magnum-F in a 1993–1997 LT1 F-Body

This is a conversion, not the same direct-swap path as an LS1 car.

APPLICATION: 1993–1997 Firebird / Formula / Trans Am LT1 manual-transmission cars considering TREMEC Magnum-F.

External slave changes everything

TREMEC states that earlier LT1 F-cars with external slaves must be converted to the LS-style setup for Magnum-F.

Required conversion family

TREMEC's catalog specifically calls out changes to the flywheel, clutch, hydraulic slave and other parts for 1993–1997 LT1 applications.

Output still changes

Magnum-F also uses the 31-spline output/yoke architecture, so the driveshaft side must be planned at the same time.

Compatibility gate

  1. Inventory the existing LT1 bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, master, external slave/fork and driveshaft.
  2. Choose a complete release-system conversion—not a mixture of LT1 external and LS internal geometry.
  3. Verify clutch stack height and release travel with the parts supplier before installation.
  4. Plan driveshaft/yoke changes and torque-arm/exhaust clearance.
  5. After installation, prove complete clutch release before blaming the new transmission for hard shifting.
FPV RULE
OBSERVE → MEASURE → ISOLATE → PROVE → REPAIR → VERIFY. Do not turn a symptom, DTC or catalog fitment label into a parts order.
