Torque Arm vs Exhaust Clearance

The torque arm can fit the chassis and still conflict with the Y-pipe, long tubes or driveshaft loop.

APPLICATION: 1993–2002 Firebird / Formula / Trans Am using aftermarket crossmember-mounted torque arms.

Standard-exhaust crossmember

Spohn identifies its standard style for factory manifolds/Y-pipe, shorty-header systems and similar Y-pipes that do not need the extra long-tube clearance.

Long-tube version

Spohn's long-tube crossmember provides roughly two additional inches of exhaust clearance. Some combinations can still vary, so the actual Y-pipe location must be checked.

Driveshaft-loop interaction

Spohn specifically warns that certain long-tube-style crossmember/front-loop combinations can rub the stock 1998–2002 Y-pipe. That is a three-part interaction: torque arm × loop × exhaust.

CATALOG FITMENT IS NOT CLEARANCE PROOF

Verify the exact header/Y-pipe, ride height and loop choice before ordering. Check static and loaded clearance after installation.

FPV RULE
OBSERVE → MEASURE → ISOLATE → PROVE → REPAIR → VERIFY. Do not turn a symptom, DTC or catalog fitment label into a parts order.
