LT1 Hard Hot Restart After Injector or Fuel-System Changes

Separate residual fuel leakage, pressure control, injector data and heat-related electrical faults before replacing fuel parts.

APPLICATION: Modified LT1 F-body that develops a hard hot restart after injector, regulator, pump, line or calibration changes.
MODIFIED-CAR / AFTERMARKET EVIDENCE · VERIFY INSTALLED HARDWARE

1 · DEFINE THE HOT-SOAK WINDOW

  • Document coolant/underhood heat, soak time and whether the engine is rich, lean or simply lacks ignition reference when the restart fails.

2 · CHECK PRESSURE / LEAKAGE BEHAVIOR

  • Observe what the fuel system does after shutdown and during restart; distinguish loss of supply from excess fuel/leakage.

3 · VERIFY INJECTOR DATA / PRESSURE REFERENCE

  • Incorrect injector characterization or regulator reference can make hot restart fueling wrong even when every component is new.

4 · KEEP IGNITION REFERENCE IN THE TREE

  • LT1 distributor/ignition faults can be temperature-sensitive. Prove fuel is actually the failed branch before replacing fuel hardware.

DO NOT REPLACE YET

Do not replace the pump or injectors from a hot-start complaint alone. Prove whether the failed restart is fuel pressure, leakage, characterization or ignition reference.

PARTS VERDICT

The proven failed branch earns repair; do not use a new pump or injector set to mask an ignition or calibration fault.

REPAIR → VERIFY

Perform repeated hot-soak restarts after repair and confirm the original soak window no longer reproduces the failure.

FPV DIAGNOSTIC RULE
SYMPTOM → TEST → ISOLATE → PROVE → PARTS VERDICT → REPAIR → VERIFY. Modified-car data changes the test plan; it does not automatically condemn the part named in a code or symptom.
