Modified F-Body Wheel / Tire Rub Diagnosis

A wheel can bolt on and still rub under steering lock, suspension compression, body roll or axle movement. Static driveway clearance is not the whole test.

APPLICATION: 1993–2002 Firebird / Formula / Trans Am with non-stock wheel, tire, ride height, brakes or suspension.
MODIFIED-CAR / AFTERMARKET EVIDENCE · VERIFY INSTALLED HARDWARE

Record the exact combination

Wheel diameter/width, offset/backspacing, tire size, ride height, brake package and suspension/rear-axle changes all matter.

Find the contact witness

Inspect tire sidewalls/tread, inner fenders, control areas, brake hoses, sway-bar areas and rear wheelhouses for fresh contact marks.

Check dynamic conditions

Reproduce steering lock and suspension travel safely. On lowered solid-axle cars, verify rear axle centering with the installed panhard arrangement.

DO NOT SOLVE RUB WITH RANDOM SPACERS

A spacer changes wheel position and can create new stud, bearing, fender or caliper-clearance problems. Measure the required correction and verify the whole combination.

FPV RULE
OBSERVE → MEASURE → ISOLATE → PROVE → REPAIR → VERIFY. A symptom is a starting point, not a parts verdict.
