LS1 Fuel Pressure

One clean year-specific answer is better than turning a familiar number into an unsupported 1998–2002 rule.

APPLICATION: 2002 Pontiac Firebird / Formula / Trans Am 5.7L LS1. Do not apply this value to other years without the matching service information.

2002 specification

2002 LS1 · VIN G
55–60 psi / 380–410 kPa

Condition: ignition ON, engine OFF, fuel pump commanded ON.

Do not flatten the years

This page shows the 2002 F-body service value. It does not silently relabel one year's procedure as “1998–2002” just because all cars use an LS1.

What low pressure proves

Low measured pressure proves the fuel system is not meeting the applicable test condition. It does not by itself identify pump, electrical supply, restriction, regulator/module or leakage as the failed component.

Retention / leak-down

Use the exact applicable service procedure before condemning a component from pressure decay. A static number without its test condition is not a complete diagnosis.

FPV diagnostic order

  1. Verify year/application.
  2. Verify gauge accuracy and connection.
  3. Reproduce the specified KOEO/pump-command condition.
  4. Record pressure.
  5. If it fails, isolate the cause before authorizing a pump or other part.

FPV RULE
A failed pressure test authorizes diagnosis—not automatic fuel-pump replacement.
