Transmission + Driveshaft + Rear Axle Must Be One Combination

Changing either end of the driveshaft can change spline, yoke, joint and length requirements.

APPLICATION: 1993–2002 Firebird / Formula / Trans Am with transmission or rear-axle swaps, including Magnum-F and aftermarket rear ends.

Transmission end

Identify output spline and required slip yoke. For example, TREMEC Magnum-F uses a 31-spline output rather than the factory F-body T56 27-spline output.

Rear end

Identify pinion-yoke series and U-joint requirement. Do not assume the aftermarket rear accepts the same joint as the stock 10-bolt.

Length

Transmission case/output and rear-pinion position determine finished driveshaft length and available slip travel.

DO NOT USE “F-BODY DRIVESHAFT” AS A SPEC

Measure the actual installed transmission and rear combination at ride height before ordering a custom shaft.

FPV RULE
OBSERVE → MEASURE → ISOLATE → PROVE → REPAIR → VERIFY. Do not turn a symptom, DTC or catalog fitment label into a parts order.
