2002 Firebird Remote Keyless Entry Inoperative

Separate transmitter, programming, receiver/body-control and door-lock system faults before buying remotes or modules.

APPLICATION: 2002 Pontiac Firebird / Formula / Trans Am. Configuration-specific equipment must match the vehicle before applying a circuit path.

Check whether manual locks work

If the door locks themselves are inoperative, repair that system first. RKE cannot overcome a failed lock circuit or mechanism.

Determine one transmitter or all

One transmitter failing while another works points differently than every transmitter failing.

Verify programming and body-control operation

Use the factory RKE diagnostic path and programming procedure for the exact vehicle rather than generic key-fob instructions.

DO NOT BUY A BCM OR REMOTE YET

Prove whether the fault follows the transmitter, programming state, receiver/control path or lock system.

FPV RULE
OBSERVE → MEASURE → ISOLATE → PROVE → REPAIR → VERIFY. A symptom or DTC is a starting point, not a parts verdict.
