2002 Firebird Power Door Locks Inoperative

One dead lock and all locks dead are different failures. Start with scope before replacing an actuator or switch.

APPLICATION: 2002 Pontiac Firebird / Formula / Trans Am. Configuration-specific equipment must match the vehicle before applying a circuit path.

Determine one door or all doors

A shared failure points upstream toward common power/control. One affected door points farther downstream toward that door circuit, actuator or mechanism.

Check other body functions

Body-control and remote-keyless-entry behavior can provide clues when multiple accessories fail together.

Inspect door wiring and mechanism

Look for connector damage, harness problems and mechanical binding before condemning an actuator.

DO NOT REPLACE THE ACTUATOR YET

Prove that the affected actuator receives the correct electrical command and that the latch/linkage is free.

FPV RULE
OBSERVE → MEASURE → ISOLATE → PROVE → REPAIR → VERIFY. A symptom or DTC is a starting point, not a parts verdict.

AFTER THE FAILURE IS PROVEN

Use the proven failed branch—not the original symptom—to choose the replacement. Go from diagnosis to the Parts Verdict →
