Obsolete Parts & Interchange

A disciplined way to source discontinued fourth-gen parts without turning “looks right” into an expensive mistake.

Interchange is a proof problem. A part that looks identical or bolts on is not automatically electrically, hydraulically or functionally equivalent.
IDENTIFY

Original application

Record year, model, engine, transmission, RPO where relevant and the number/markings on the removed part.

COMPARE

Interfaces

Compare connector/keying, mounting, dimensions, sensor/reluctor architecture, hydraulic interfaces and calibration requirements.

USED PARTS

Condition matters

A correct used component can still carry age, wear or storage damage. Inspect before installation.

REPRODUCTION

Function before appearance

Verify that reproduction parts reproduce the required mechanical/electrical function—not merely the shape.

SUPERSESSIONS

Do not infer

A newer catalog number may be a valid supersession, but verify the application rather than assuming every later number replaces every earlier one.

MODIFIED CARS

Installed hardware wins

Swapped rear axles, brakes, transmissions and controllers can invalidate VIN-only parts ordering.
