2000 LS1 Fuel-Delivery Diagnosis
Test the 2000 LS1 fuel system as a complete delivery circuit—command, pressure behavior, retention, restriction and load—before replacing components.
Start with symptom timing
No-start, extended crank after sitting, lean/load loss, surge and hot restart problems do not prove the same failure.
Command and electrical path
Separate PCM/relay command, feed and ground from pump hydraulic output. A silent pump can be an electrical/control fault; a running pump can still fail delivery.
Use the exact-year pressure test
Follow the 2000 procedure for pressure and retention. FPV deliberately does not borrow a neighboring-year hard limit on this page.
Test under demand
A system that appears acceptable at idle can still lose delivery under acceleration/load. Reproduce the complaint safely and observe the relevant evidence.
Modified-car checkpoint
Hot-wire kits, aftermarket pumps, regulators, rails/injectors or return conversions need their own wiring and regulator-reference verification.
DO NOT REPLACE YET
Do not replace pump, regulator or injectors until control, pressure behavior and leak/restriction branches have been isolated.
Exact-year verification trail
This page intentionally omits hard values that are not reproduced from an exact-year source on the page. Use the linked exact-year service information for connector-level tests, pinouts and numerical limits.
AFTER THE FAILURE IS PROVEN
Use the proven failed branch—not the original symptom—to choose the replacement. Go from diagnosis to the Parts Verdict →
DO NOT REPLACE YET
Do not replace the pump, regulator, filter or injectors from a single pressure observation. Follow the page’s exact-year test state and separate electrical supply, restriction, pressure control, leakage and delivery capacity.
PARTS VERDICT
The pump or pressure-control component earns replacement only when the applicable test proves it cannot maintain the required system behavior with its power, ground and plumbing verified.
REPAIR → VERIFY
Repeat the same key-on/idle/load or restart condition used to expose the fault and confirm pressure behavior is stable, leakage is absent and the original drivability complaint is gone.
FPV DIAGNOSTIC RULE
SYMPTOM → TEST → ISOLATE → PROVE → PARTS VERDICT → REPAIR → VERIFY. A code, symptom or commonly failed part is not proof by itself.
