2002 Firebird Power Windows — Separate Power, Control and Drag

2002 Firebird power-window diagnosis separating RAP/shared power, switch/control, loaded wiring, motor and mechanical binding before parts replacement.

APPLICATION: 2002 Pontiac Firebird / Formula / Trans Am with power windows. Body-electrical scope; engine family does not change the basic 2002 window architecture.

Both windows dead

Start upstream: RAP/ignition state, shared circuit protection and system power. Two dead windows are not evidence that two motors failed together.

One window dead or slow

Check mechanical binding and loaded electrical delivery, then separate switch/control, wiring, motor and regulator/mechanism.

Driver express-down only

The driver's express-down feature uses its own power-window control module. Treat an express-down complaint differently from a completely dead motor circuit.

What the 2002 system does

DO NOT REPLACE YET

Slow window ≠ proven motor

Mechanical drag can increase current demand and trigger protection. Inspect binding/track/regulator condition and test voltage delivery under load before condemning the motor.

Modified-car checkpoint

Alarm/remote-start wiring, audio work, added relays and prior door-harness repairs can alter accessory circuits. Inspect what has been changed before blaming the BCM, switch or motor.

AFTER THE FAILURE IS PROVEN
